Safeguarding Summary

Safeguarding at Phoenix Martial Arts

We take safeguarding seriously. This is a brief overview of our safeguarding policy. A full copy is made available to all students and parents when they join Phoenix Martial Arts.

At Phoenix Martial Arts, we are committed to creating a safe, supportive environment for all children and young people under 18. We expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment and to take any welfare concerns seriously.

We follow the latest government guidance, including Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023, and our approach is guided by the principle that the safety and wellbeing of children is paramount. We believe all young people—regardless of age, gender, background, ability, or belief—deserve a positive and enjoyable experience in a safe, child-centred environment.

As part of our safeguarding approach, we:

We recognise that abuse can take many forms, including physical, emotional, sexual, and neglect. Staff and volunteers are also trained to respond to wider concerns such as bullying, exploitation, or exposure to violence or radicalisation.

Concerns—no matter how small—must be reported to the DSL or their deputy. In an emergency, or if a child is in immediate danger, we advise contacting emergency services or the NSPCC directly.

Our safeguarding policy also outlines expectations around conduct, including avoiding poor practice and maintaining professional boundaries at all times.
